The South Coast Chapter will be hosting a FREE BBQ and open house at the Duck Club. Dinner is on us! We will feature fly tying, casting lessons and some cool, short education video clips about coastal trout.Come, bring your friends & family and enjoy at your own pace. We’ll send you home with a fully belly and some tips on where to fish in Southern CA.Membership sign-up will be available.

For the 7th straight year since this event started, the South Coast Chapter will be on hand to participate in Earth Day at Pahne, supporting the San Onofre Foundation and the United Coalition to Protect Panhe in a community-based Native American celebration at San Mateo State Park in San Clemente, Sunday, April 21, 10AM-4PM.These groups have been long-time partners in our efforts for southern steelhead restoration.

Dave Lentz ,CDFW Native Trout Conservation Coordinator will speak about
“Golden Trout & New Directions at CDFW”
Fisheries biologist Dave Lentz will be with us for an update on the status of California’s golden trout. Dave, a longtime friend of TU, will also give us his perspective on the impact of last fall’s passage of SB 1148, which has led to a welcome increase in emphasis on native trout at the Department and a mandatory revision of the CDFW’s Plan for Trout Management. Dave will talk about changes in the Department’s approach to trout stocking and watershed/basin trout management planning that have come about as a result of this legislation.

on fish-value restoration,anandromous fish overviews, macro-invertebrates (bugs) as well as member fishing pictures. Note: For 2013, we will be moving back to the second Mondays of every month for meetings.

Members & guests are cordially invited to the South Coast Chapter TU’s December General Membership Meeting and Xmas party. Our chapter’s ‘most traveled’ fisherman, Bill McMaster will present a slideshow of the salmon fishing conditions in Russia during his trip in 2012. It is certain that Bill’s slides will include a lot of nice scenery as well as some massive fish! We will follow up his presentation with some raffles and some Xmas cheer. Several members have birthdays in December so, there will be cake and beverages. (sorry, just non-alcoholic) In addition there will be some branded TU items for sale just in time for holiday gifts;Mono-Masters (monofilament waste line collectors) T-shirts,and other garments, perfect for stocking stuffers.
