Membership Meeting Jan. 12,2009—Duck Club, Irvine, CA 7PM

Happy New Year!
After the holidays, too much food and bowl games, it is the perfect time to make plans for fishing your favorite waters. Steelhead and some salmon are in season in Northern CA so you don’t have to wait for the perfect summer conditions. And also, TU is planning on strategies to save our perennially fragile salmonoid populations. With the current financial crisis, it is gearing up to be a challenging year. But, with more members becoming engaged, it is not an insurmountable task.

The South Coast Chapter is going to kick off a series of membership meetings this year with a mix of both fishing and conservation speakers. Our featured topic in January will be about the California Heritage Trout Challenge. This program, established in 1998 by DFG, requires anglers to catch, photograph and release six (6) different forms of native trout from their historic CA watersheds. (Can you name them all? go to http://www.dfg.gov/fish/fishing )

Documenting this challenge in a slideshow will be Michael Zona, one of our esteemed chapter members. Michael has shown this presentation to several groups and has received great reviews. We will be again offering some great raffles including a 4 wt. custom built fly rod plus a special raffle for the new member & first-timer to our meetings.Come join us for a fun and informative meeting.Maps to the Duck Club can be found at the “Join Us” tab.
